Sam and Shellie were first approved as missionaries in 1992 and then went to Thailand on their first term 2 years later. God has allowed them the opportunity to serve Him in three countries and in a host of ways. Their first years were spent in traditional church planting in Thailand. After that, they went on to provide compassion care and underground pastoral training in a communist country. Now, Sam sees how God prepared him to become the director of ICI Ministries in the Philippines. ICI/Global University Philippines is the largest ministry of its kind in the world outside of the United States. He sees his ministry at ICI as a perfect mix of all that is best about working as a missionary. As director of ICI, he is involved in training and equipping ministers, reaching out through various forms of evangelism and discipleship and providing Christian materials for schools across the Philippines.
Sam and Shellie have two kids. Their son, Jay and his wife Emily, serve as missionaries in Belgium. Their daughter Mary Kate is married to Chastan. They live and work in the US, and serve in their local church.
